Dr. Michael Emusugut

Senior Orthopedic Consultant

Founder of Michoes Medical Centre and pioneer in trauma care in Eastern Uganda. Trained at Makerere University and the University of Cape Town.

Expertise: Joint replacement, complex fracture management, and orthopaedic trauma. Committed to training the next generation of surgeons and advancing orthopaedic care across Kumi District and beyond.


General Surgery

Dr. Nicholas Iyamitai

Head of Surgery

Head of the surgical department at Michoes. Expertise in emergency laparotomies, soft tissue reconstruction, and surgical mentorship.

Expertise: Emergency laparotomies, trauma surgery, and soft tissue reconstruction. Leads clinical governance and quality assurance initiatives at Michoes. Dedicated to surgical excellence and mentoring junior clinicians.


Paediatrics

Dr. Adoa Pious

Pediatrician

Director of maternal and child health. Established the neonatal unit and runs paediatric outreach clinics in Kumi and Soroti.

Focus: Neonatal and child health, immunisation programs, and nutritional support. Provides compassionate care for mothers and children, with emphasis on disease prevention and healthy development.


Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Dr. Susan Atai

Obstetrics & Gynaecology Specialist

Leads the maternity unit. Skilled in caesarean sections, obstetric fistula repair, and minimally invasive gynaecology.

Expertise: Safe motherhood, high-risk pregnancy management, and compassionate maternal care. Advocates for women’s health and dignity throughout the pregnancy journey. Committed to reducing maternal complications.


Pharmacy

Jonathan A.

Lead Pharmacist

Head of pharmacy services at Michoes. Ensures safe dispensing, drug interaction screening, and pharmaceutical counselling for all patients.

Focus: Safe medication management, drug interaction screening, and patient education. Ensures all medications are appropriate, affordable, and properly dispensed. Advocates for rational drug use across the hospital.


Laboratory Services

Okello John Bosco

Senior Laboratory Technician

Head of laboratory services at Michoes. Manages haematology, chemistry, and microbiology testing with quality assurance protocols.

Focus: Accurate laboratory diagnostics, quality assurance, and rapid emergency testing. Specialises in haematology, chemistry, and microbiology. Committed to reliable results that guide clinical decisions.
