Antenatal Care (ANC) – Starting from First Trimester

We follow WHO and Uganda Ministry of Health guidelines: at least 8 contacts during pregnancy. Dr. Susan Atai provides:

  • Dating scan and confirmation of pregnancy
  • Blood pressure monitoring to detect pre-eclampsia
  • Urine tests for protein and infections
  • Blood tests: haemoglobin (anaemia), blood group, HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, glucose
  • Intermittent Preventive Treatment for malaria (IPTp) – sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine after 13 weeks
  • Tetanus toxoid vaccination
  • Iron and folic acid supplementation
  • Growth monitoring and position checks

Labour and Delivery – Safe, Respectful, 24/7

Our maternity unit is staffed by skilled midwives and Dr. Susan Atai. We provide:

  • Active management of third stage of labour to prevent bleeding
  • Partograph monitoring to detect complications early

  • Immunisation starting (BCG, polio, hepatitis B)

Dr. Susan Atai, Obstetrics & Gynaecology Specialist: Leads the maternity unit. Skilled in caesarean sections, obstetric fistula repair, and minimally invasive gynaecology. She trained at Makerere University and has over 10 years of experience serving women in Eastern Uganda. She speaks Ateso, Luganda, and English.

Dr. Adoa Pious, Pediatrician: Examines all newborns, manages prematurity, and provides postnatal baby care. He established our neonatal unit and runs paediatric outreach clinics in Kumi and Soroti.

How early should I start antenatal care?

As soon as you miss your period and get a positive pregnancy test. First visit before 12 weeks is ideal.

Do you offer safe abortion services?

We do not perform elective abortions. However, we provide post-abortion care for incomplete abortion or miscarriage, including manual vacuum aspiration, antibiotics, pain relief, and family planning. All care is confidential and non-judgmental.

Can my husband or family member stay during labour?

Yes, we encourage one support person of your choice during labour and delivery.
