What Is a Medical Emergency?

A medical emergency is any condition that threatens life, limb, or long-term health. Come to Michoes immediately or call an ambulance if you or someone with you has:

  • Chest pain or pressure – possible heart attack
  • Sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the face or body – possible stroke
  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Severe bleeding that does not stop
  • Head injury with loss of consciousness or confusion
  • Seizures (convulsions) lasting more than 5 minutes or repeated seizures
  • Sudden severe headache – possible brain bleed
  • Severe allergic reaction – swelling of face/throat, difficulty breathing, hives
  • Fractures or dislocations, especially with deformity
  • Deep wounds or burns
  • Drowning or near-drowning
  • Poisoning or medication overdose
  • Unconsciousness or unresponsiveness
  • Severe abdominal pain – possible appendicitis, perforated ulcer, or ectopic pregnancy
  • In pregnant women: severe bleeding, ruptured membranes before 37 weeks, decreased fetal movement, severe headache with visual changes

Call to Action: When in doubt, come to Michoes or call +256701364362. It is better to be seen and not need emergency care than to stay home and suffer harm.
